AIA chief becomes first female president of LIAM

The Life Insurance Association of Malaysia (LIAM) has elected Anusha Thavarajah, the chief executive officer of AIA, as president for 2018-19.

It is the first time in LIAM’s 44-year history that a woman has been chosen to lead the association’s management committee. She will succeed Toi See Jong, who had completed his three-year term as president.

Other new elected officials include Gibraltar BSN Life president and CEO Rangam Bir, who was elected as LIAM vice-president for the same term.

The seven other members are Allianz Life Insurance CEO Joseph Gross, AmMetLife Insurance CEO Ramzi Toubassy, Great Eastern Life Assurance CEO Koh Yaw Hui, Hong Leong Assurance managing director/CEO Loh Guat Lan, Prudential Assurance Malaysia CEO Gan Leong Hin, Tokio Marine Life Insurance Malaysia CEO Toi See Jong and Zurich Life Insurance Malaysia CEO Philip Smith.
