In a move that further highlights the intensity of competition in insurtech, life insurer AIA has announced the appointment of Daisuke Iwase as its chief digital officer.
Iwase, who currently serves as president of Lifenet Insurance, a listed direct life insurance firm in Japan, will start at AIA on July 1, according to a company statement.
He will be based in Hong Kong and will also serve as a member of the AIA executive committee.
Prior to co-founding Lifenet, Iwase started his career as a strategy consultant with the Boston Consulting Group in Tokyo.
Subsequently, he established the Japan office of a US-based technology venture capital firm and worked in an international private equity firm.
Last March, AIA named Gunawan Chiu Wu Pin as chief technology officer at AIA Singapore as part of the company’s push to digitise its Asian business.
